Patuxent Area Operation

Patuxent Area Operation

Overview

The Patuxent River Area Operation was created to provide aircraft survivability and system safety support to the Naval Air Systems Command, specifically, the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Survivability Branch.  Since that time, the Patuxent River Area Operation has developed extensive modeling and simulation (M&S) verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) capability.  Most of the support now includes the Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement Group through the VV&A Branch, with projects involving numerous U.S. Department of Defense programs over the years such as the F-35 Joint Simulation Environment, F/A-18, MQ-25 Stingray, MQ‑4C Triton, CH-53K, Next-Generation Jammer, and others.  Patuxent River Area Operation employees have wide-ranging expertise in all stages of VV&A, from initial planning and execution through reporting and completion.  VV&A subject matter expertise is leveraged via M&S risk assessments, data science and data analytics capabilities, software testing, M&S evaluations, and technical writing.

Platform and System Survivability

SURVICE’s Patuxent River Area Operation (PAO) is conducting Survivability analyses focusing on aircraft susceptibility signature predictions for radar and infrared based threats.  As survivability is the core business for SURVICE (it is in our name), PAO is supported by all of SURVICE’s operations encompassing the entire combat survivability and lethality domain for software and model development and validation/verification/accreditation; modeling and simulation execution; studies and analyses; and test and evaluation to include laboratory, range, and live fire activities.
