It is with great sadness that the SURVICE Engineering Company mourns the loss of one of our own this week. Greg Robinson, SURVICE Metrology Deputy Manager, passed away on 12 October 2017 after a two-year battle with cancer.
Originally from South Africa, Greg obtained his undergraduate degree in surveying and mapping from the University of Natal in South Africa and his master’s degree in engineering and geomatics from the University of New Brunswick.
Greg started his professional career in metrology and geodetics in the early ‘90s as a geodetic engineer, supporting alignment and measurement efforts for large-scale particle accelerator projects in Texas and California. In 1996, Greg started with SMX Corporation as the Director of Technical Services, providing laser tracker support for U.S. and international customers. He continued this role when he transitioned to Accurex Measurement in 2002, where he remained until joining SURVICE when Accurex was acquired in 2008.
Greg was a vital part of SURVICE’s burgeoning metrology capability, providing expert technical capability, key business-area insight, and a personal approach to his customers and coworkers that laid the foundation for SURVICE Metrology’s success today. His reserved and extraordinarily gentle demeanor will be missed by all of us who knew him. Greg’s loss is felt by the entire SURVICE family, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends across the globe.
