BELCAMP, MD (May 20, 2013) – SURVICE’s Applied Technology Operation announced today that it has been named an official CUDA® Research Center (CRC) by NVIDIA, a world leader in visual and high-performance computing.
As a CUDA Research Center, SURVICE will harness the power of GPU accelerators to deliver high-performance physics-based raytracing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other organizations. Specifically, the center seeks to enhance the SURVICE-developed Rayforce raytracing and Apollo CFD simulation engines across a range of DoD domains, including ballistic penetration, radio frequency propagation, thermal radiative transport, and fluid dynamics.
According to Mr. Mark Butkiewicz, Manager of the Applied Technology Operation, “The establishment of the CUDA Research Center at SURVICE strengthens our relationship with NVIDIA, improving access to its expert staff and related research institutions around the globe and providing increased benefits to our clients.”
CUDA is NVIDIA’s parallel computing platform and programming model that enables dramatic increases in computing performance by leveraging the power of NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs). CUDA Research Centers, which are at the forefront of some of the world’s most innovative and important scientific research, are recognized institutions that embrace and apply GPU computing across a range research fields.
Among the benefits CUDA Research Centers receive are exclusive events with key researchers and academics, a designated NVIDIA technical liaison, and access to specialized online and in-person training sessions.
