June 17–23, Paris, France – Three SURVICE representatives (Messrs. Mark Butkiewicz, Wink Yelverton, and Jordan Matthews) attended the world’s largest aerospace industry event, the International Paris Air Show, at the Le Bourget Airport in Paris, France, on June 17–23, 2013. Celebrating the air show’s 50th anniversary, this year’s week-long event featured more than 150,000 attendees and more than 2,000 exhibitors, including aerospace giants from all over the world.
SURVICE, which has its headquarters and multiple operations in Maryland, was part of a seven-company delegation exhibiting in the State of Maryland’s pavilion. The company used the opportunity to showcase its new Enhanced Coherent Laser Radar (E-CLR). The E-CLR is a widely applicable product being developed as part of an Air Force research grant supporting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. SURVICE was able to discuss this technology (and other SURVICE products and services) with industry leaders such as EADS/Airbus and Finmeccanica, as well as with U.S. Embassy and trade specialists from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
At the show, SURVICE also met with Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Maryland U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, and Senator-Mayor Natacha Bouchart of France (with whom Governor O’Malley signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and France’s Calais Economic Development Corporation and Investment Promotion Agency).
“The Paris Air Show is truly a unique opportunity to help our Maryland companies explore new opportunities for investment and trade,” said Governor O’Malley, “and to encourage leaders from many of the world’s largest aerospace companies to choose Maryland as the ideal place to establish operations.”
SURVICE (which currently has two operations in Florida) also met with Florida Governor Rick Scott and Enterprise Florida representatives to discuss potential partnerships and job creation opportunities in Florida’s Panhandle and Gulf Coast regions.
