Background & Challenges

I was born and raised in Queens, NY.  My parents were immigrants from the Caribbean.  My mother is from Haiti and my father is from Barbados.  They came to the U.S. in search of better employment opportunities.  My father worked in financial services and my mother became a registered nurse.

Accomplishments

I earned a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, respectively.  I am currently the CSIAC Technical Lead (CISSP and Security+ Certified) at SURVICE.  Previously for SURVICE, as Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (a vital member of the Cyber R&D team), I supported the Data and Analysis Center (formerly AMSAA) on early acquisition cybersecurity assessments for Army systems.  Before coming to SURVICE, I worked at the C5ISR Center (formerly CERDEC), where I led a world-class Cross Domain Solution (CDS) lab.  At the lab, I performed CDS lab-based security assessments on Army CDSs going through the Secret and Below Interoperability (SABI) CDS Certification and Accreditation Approval process.  I was a key member of the INFOSEC Branch, which has made myriad contributions to cyberspace for the DoD at large.

What Black History Month Means to Me

Black History Month is important because it gives us time to reflect on the injustices endured, the sacrifices made, and the many significant accomplishments of black people in this country and throughout the world.
