Chesapeake Production Operation

Overview

Chesapeake Production Operation (CPO), which is part of the Applied Technology Sector (ATS), was recently established to focus on manufacturing and production activities of unmanned ground systems and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and related technologies.  CPO provides production, program management, flight operations, testing, quality, service, repair, in-house inspection, and field metrology services for the SURVICE Engineering Company ATS’s customers and products.  Hardware products primarily include unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground robotics, and associated systems.  Much of the production activities are focused on Groups 1–3 UAS.  For example, CPO is heavily involved in the production of the Tactical Resupply Vehicle–150 (known as TRV-150), which is a program of record by the name of tactical resupply unmanned aerial system (known as TRUAS).  All ground and flight testing, end-user training, supply chain, quality assurance/quality control, and sustainment activities for programs of record are managed under CPO.  In addition, SURVICE’s Metrology Services team provides internal support to CPO and external support to customers for dimensional inspection, reverse engineering, and computer-aided-design development requirements.  ATS, which comprises both CPO and Chesapeake Robotics Operation, has recently expanded facilities to include multiple buildings totaling over 25,000 ft2 at the Harford Airport just outside Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, with plans for further expansion to meet growing production contract requirements.  ATS also operates a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificate of waiver or authorization (COA) at the same location, which represents a 120-acre controlled area to fly large (<1320 lbs), experimental to production-level unmanned aircraft system platforms.
