Happy STEM Day! SURVICE employee Jonathan Bennett is involved in coaching a First Lego League (FLL) Challenge team. FLL Challenge is a program that helps teach engineering principles to 4-8th graders through building (and rebuilding) and programming (and reprogramming) robots to accomplish simple tasks on the playing field.
The programming is done using two different interfaces, one is Scratch-like, and the other is Python. The students also create a research project resulting in a 5-minute presentation to explain the problem and solution they created. Innovation is encouraged as well as imaginative solutions!
